Re: 16 GB Micro SD review thread.

None actually have 16 GB..its a tricky concept used by ALL space holding media.

its not saying that you have 16gb space its saying you got 16 gigas of bytes space

aka 16gb = 16,384 mb = 16,777,216 kb = 17,179,869,184 bytes

what they give you is

16 gigas of bytes = 16,000 megas of bytes = 16,000,000 kilos of bytes = 16,000,000,000 bytes

thats 1,179,869,184 bytes that you don't get. (not exactly but around since flash chips are in 128/256/512/1024/2048 blocks)

For magnetic and cd-rom media it is similar except they can never have EXACTLY that amount of space. That is why overburning is possible on some cds and not others. This is also why hd space varies for same drives.

Flash media is exact though

The brand for SD cards don't matter much, its a generic process..BUT when buying you may end up buying a fake thats being resold or etc.

That said, the low I have seen for 16gb card is 35$ for class 4 and class 6 just gotta keep an eye for it.
