FWIW,
Have probably flashed 30 times or better with Calk v4.1, Calk v4.2, and OMJ Sense Kitchen (original), OMJ Sense Kitchen 1.2 without ever flashing a stock rom first. Have had no ill effects... FLASH AWAY!
Like I posted a while back though... if you do start getting a bunch of weird stuff that niether OMJ nor anybody else is reporting then a stock flash wouldn't be a bad idea at that point. Other than that, I'm of the same opinion as OMJ, just flash flash flash away
