The settings you put from the homepage does get registered, but however, there's another WM alarm setting under start that also does the same thing (it's the red alarm icon). You need to go into the Wm one and select a sound, because by default the sound is set at "no sound". The times you set will appear in both places, but the sound you pick would only reflect at one place.
