If your power usage is normal, but you are still having battery issues, then you likely have a today item that is making a data connection frequently.
A hard reset shouldn't be required, but you might experience temporary gain from a soft reset.

i didn't build abcpowermeter in. nothing on my today screen us making a data connection more frequently than it did before. i also disabled exchange email and have two imap accounts set to check once a hour (had exchage set to as items arrive from 8-5 and then every 4 hours the rest of the time). soft reset doesn't do much if anything.
i'm not sure what caused it yet, but the only thing i installed last week that uses a data connection is microsoft's remote display control, which does not work correctly with wm6 (locked up on me once).
