As fas as the banner being "the only thing they have," that is just completely false. I sent my donation as I know many others have. If helmi checks his donation lists, he should see my name. So, yes, his build was free... but he has been paid by MANY for his efforts. I think that keeping the masses happy is what keeps the donations coming. There are good points being made for removal. And to answer someone else's question... I can remove XP logos (and have) wherever I want. Microsoft doesn't care... as long as they are getting their money.

Of course they don't care--neither does gguru. But maybe you missed the second question I asked--does Microsoft provide you an easy method to remove their XP branding? No they don't.
Personally, I think it's a waste of time anyway. All a thief needs to do is go to the carrier's or UTStarcom's site, download the latest device ROM and your splash screen is gone--so easy any idiot could do it. Your typical thief is not likely to have the skills nor the interest in taking the time to research how to remove your bootscreen--especially on a CDMA smart phone which is rendered half-useless once you report it stolen. It is exceedingly difficult to get an EV-DO CDMA device fully working with a changed ESN or on another carrier, so they're not likely to fetch much for it anyway (also considering it's now over two years old and has been superseded by other devices). IMHO the only potentially effective text you could possibly put on your boot screen is "REWARD IF FOUND"--money talks.
And speaking of money, who you donated to and how much is irrelevant. This is all free software--thus we are all at the mercy of the people who create it and give it away generously. If you donate, you're showing your appreciation (and donations to these folks are much deserved), but that is not the same thing as if it were commercial software or shareware. You can make a
friendly suggestion, but making demands (especially over something as trivial as a boot screen) or calling the developer's ego into question is not an appropriate way to behave--in this or any other forum (and I'm speaking to GameDoctor here).
Gguru's last posts were perfectly stated. If you don't think PPCGeeks and Helmi deserve a spot on your bootscreen then feel free to remove it--just don't expect or demand that the unpaid and overworked developer do it for you--especially when he already spent long hours implementing that homage in the first place. If you think that a thief is capable of researching here how to change the bootscreen then you should definitely be able to handle it.
