No the send messages are supposed to show up on the HTC messenger tab.
This same issue happened to me too using the sense UI 2.1....but I didnt really look into why it happens since I had to hard reset for other reasons. Now I'm on sense UI 2.5 so far no problems with sent messages in the htc messenger tab.
