I agree with the main overall point of your post, but you got one little detail wrong... AT&T still has a better network than T-Mobile. It's not the worst in the nation.

Sprint claims they have twice the 3G coverage of AT&T, and 14 times the 3G coverage of T-Mobile. So that would have to mean that AT&T has a significantly better network than T-Mobile.
