Ok, I'm back with the same problem I had before with the kitchen. I downloaded the file anew, unzipped it to the desktop and proceeded to run it from the desktop. Once the gui came up for the kitchen all I did was click on device/diamond followed by load rom. I typed an "o" in the dialog box which then presented me with the 3 preloaded saved roms. I selected 23504 and then clicked on create rom. After several minutes of what appeared like error free processing, the bottom of the log file looks like...

The .nbh is not in the release_diamond folder, but the OS-new.nb, romhdr, and xip files are in the temp folder. Their sizes are respectively 157mb, 84b, and 3.04 mb. Any guidance, suggestions, etc. is very welcome.
