Thank you for the information, it seems that the cellular band CDMA radio could be activated.
I'm not in the US, I guess all would go much easier otherwise. Locally, my CDMA provider runs at the 800 MHz band, no CDMA phones are sold anymore and the service is used only for Data Cards, none of which can fit in my UMPC. In the end, I have agreed to buy a gray market PPC-6800.
Searching on the Internet, I have seen some registry modifications for the PPC-6800:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies\0000 1001 = 2
-> Change the value data from 2 to 1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies\0000 1005 = 16
-> Change the value data from 16 to 40
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies\0000 1017 = 128
-> Change the value data from 128 to 144
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \Security\Policies\Policies
-> Add new value "0000101b": Dword = 1
However, I'm not sure if somebody has tested the procedure on the PPC-6800 or has other procedure that positively works. Since I have agreed to buy the P/PC but haven't received it yet and given the complications, there is a possibility to change or cancel the purchase.
I will appreciate any additional information.
