I've been fighting with this for many days also... I can confirm that it does work, and these guys aren't full of ****. No offense guys, it's just that when it works for someone else, and not for you after so many attempts you stop believing.
Seriously though, I did what "Solipsist" said. Made the change in the registry, soft reset. I opened the same MMS message in the outbox that wouldn't send before, and it sent. Opened it on my wifes TP1, (Sprint), she got it. Sent an MMS back to my phone, guess what... Got it!!!
