Correct. The
thread I linked to in my first response will walk you through unlocking & flashing your phone with a newer radio & ROM if you're not already familiar with that. It also talks about cooking a custom ROM, but bbsandkm has already done that part for you. You may also want to go into your forum control panel & choose a darker forum skin so you can more easily see some of the
light colored text in that & other threads.
