Re: backing up and restoring programs

From what I understand, you do not want to back up all of your programs, etc to the new ROM as you may be bringing over programs, etc that will cause a conflict with the new ROM. I typically just backup my contacts and personal info and reload the cabs that I use, as I have them stored in a folder on my SD card. I also haven't gotten the hand of sd config, XDA UC really isn't bad to use, just take a little time to read and watch the videos and play around, but not every ROM has them. But bottom line is, I don't think it's recommended to backup everything using a program like SPB ROM backup.
