there is no option for this in the wallpaper settings on this rom,
only 2 options ,,"weather background" and "animated background"
....never asks if i want to use default..

Yea you need Max Manila to get it to work ver 2.519202525 which can be found here:

you also need to get the newest version of HDWalls which can be found here:

or on the same page as link 1 i suppose (sorry didn't have my coffee yet!) I'll post order of operations for u now though.
1 Uninstall your HDWalls. (Don't skip this step cause it'll get buggy!)
2 reboot your phone
3 Install Max Manila
4 reboot your phone
5 Install HDWalls onto your phone
6 Make sure your wall paper is new and has extensions for winmo 6.5 and man 2.5. (Older wallpaper will not have these, only newer ones made with the newest HDWall)
7 Install the cab file for your wallpaper thru explorer, it'll tell you to reboot your phone, do so.
8 Install BignAdAd TransparentBottomCurtain.cab (Can be found as an attachment on the first post.)
9 DO NOT INSTALL BIGnAdAD RemoveTopCurtain&CarrierText.cab as it will break Manila's homepage.
OK, so this is the only way I have gotten HDWalls to work. And you have to make sure to only use 16 shortcuts on your homepage and not 20 as it breaks your contact list(just makes it look buggy but sometimes shortcut links will also break with 20).
