I just got pdaNet for Android working running on XP inside a virtual machine on my Mac. Unfortunately, the internet connection doesn't translate to the Mac side of things but this was the way that the WM version worked. Still looking for a wifi router app that doesn't require root access. Looks like Morose Media has an app in progress:
