The animations don't loop. They play out and then will only replay after returning to the home page after certain actions like going to the start menu. The softkey in the SMS tab is set to send because of the version of the messaging client that is in use. It's missing the send key that was in the text box in the older versions and instead mapped the send button to the left softkey. It is a small inconvience but you can either just hit the home button as you said or scroll to a different tab in the contact and the softkey will return to back.

Yeah I assumed that is what happened. I didn't even realize the big send key not there! I think if I could get my MMS working I would be set!
