its just a png with an opacity level, make it 100% opaque and you will get what you want... or 0% for no start menu shading at all.. and wouldn't alarms just be a registry entry? I know nothing of this because I have an old dumb phone I keep around as an alarm clock..

I think you could just make startmenu*something.png (I forgot - its in the SYS in dpi_192_resh480_resv640 somewhere I think) an image you wanted (just a blank fully transparent image) and then just check use this picture as background, then browse to what you want to use as your start menu BG
