You can add a line then have the new phone transferred over to your current line. Then activate an older feature phone on the new line. That's what I did for this go around and I gave the feature phone to my older son (needless to say he is a happy camper
).
This worked best for me as I don't loose my phone number and I get the low price for the Droid.
