I did a hard reset and then restored from backup as I mentioned earlier. There was a little weirdness at first (soft keys on the bottom remained hi-lighted) but I've been running now for almost a week and everything seems to be running smoothly except my battery life seems shorter than it used to be. I think that based on these results, I'm going to hard reset and do a fresh re-install of everything.
