I finally got it to work (Sprint HTC Pro).
1) install the cab to kill the Guardian file, cab file is attached to post #1 of
this thread
2) install the cab file to allow internet tethering,
click here
I had to reinstall the default ROM from the HTC site. I was trying several things and eventually my whole phone became worthless. I couldn't even make a call. I reinstalled and did the above two steps, and now everything works. Hopefully you won't have to reinstall the ROM to get it to work. I'm pretty sure I had to because I screwed something up. I didn't even know what a ROM was until two days ago.
