I went to a Sprint local store and checked the demo Touch which was manufactured on 10/10/07. It also has "waterwave" on screen when pressing it. The store rep opened another new Touch and even on the start-up screen there was huge wave patten when pressing the screen. However, side by side compared with the Touch, the demo Mogul didn't have any water wave when I tried to press it. Does anyone care about this? This might mean that a lot of our phones' touch screen might be defective, and we'll get "smudges" or other problems later on.

Another thought is whether this is related to the touchscreen sensitivity. I've seen people reported that you can actually edit registry to change this. On my screen, if I just touch the screen, you can hardly find the wave or brightness change. Only when I press it a little harder, can I see it. For those who claimed that your screen has no such problem, can you please try one more time to press it a little bit harder to see if the screen is indeed OK? It's easier to see it when you press the weather icon and wait it to update info, or you can do it with a darker background or wall paper.

And btw, I just got a direct impression about the "sleep mode" problem everyone was talking about. With the phone lying in front of my desk, I missed my GF's call. Then when I pressed the power button, I got the missed call indicator and the notification. During the whole time, the phone didn't even ring. I think previously I just happened not to have any incoming call when the phone is actually "sleeping" not the "power save" status after I pressed the "power" button.

I think I'm gonna wait till the newest batch to exchange.
