Same here but if you do the ## whatever - I think DATA, it will show you the actual signal strength. I'm at -47db in my house with the airave which is supposedly pretty darn good. Call quality is great.
I had a similar problem with my HTC6800. All my family members phones would show full bars but my 6800 and my TP show one or none. I was told it was a problem in how the radio "rated" the signal and really has nothing to do with the strength. I was also told that it shows fewer bars because the airave does not broadcast the evdo signal and that is factored into the eqaution.
