If, in your opinion, the developer is charging too much for a piece of software, then you have a great option: you don't buy it and you don't use it. Basically, a vendor asks you to make a decision: Is it more valuable to you to use my item, or is it more valuable to you to keep the money I'm asking? If it is the former, you buy it.
