I installed TouchFlo (but not the cube) with my new ROM last night.
It only seems to work sporadically and with non-Today Screen programs (I can't get it to scroll my calendar on PocketBreeze).
I read through this thread (not everything, but skimmed) and didn't see this mentioned.
I did put a link to FTouchFlo in my startup menu and that got things a little more consistent. Still nothing on the Today Screen though.
