If you use Manila 2.1 then stick with Tachi, but personally I hate it because it seems buggy about answering the phone and sometimes it will open data and just transmit in the background hurting battery life.

Its only called the Tachi dialer because it was taken from that device, they are both manila 2.* based dialers. The Rhodium dialer is not fully complete (missing the drop down canvas) but it works ALOT better than tachi. More responsive, actually dials when you press talk (i.e no pressing it twice when dialing a damn number), no delay call, no bug where you end a call right after making it and it does not hang up.
IMO the tachi dialer should be abandoned, it was a good first attempt, but is far too buggy. The only downside of the Rhodium dialer right now is the limited skinning options and the fact it is really meant for GSM as it has the video call feature which we CDMA users do not. It also includes call conferencing right in the dialer which is pretty cool if you carrier supports it.
edit: I think calk also made another version as he posted a CDMA version of the Rhodium dialer at XDA so it will probably be in his next kitchen. (seems to look the same as the tachi dialer with call history and back button instead of conference and video call, but most likely based a Rhodium dialer (who knows which one)). Gonna go try it out now, but it looks great, thanks again calk!!!!
