Hmmm.
Look here in the registry:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\
There should be a key named DefaultKeyLock (if it's not there, make it, below values are DWORD)
Setting it to 1 will lock all buttons when screen is off.
Set it to 2 Lock buttons if device is locked
And set it to 3 for not locking any buttons.
Soft reset and then try to wake it with a button.
