Hey guys, currently got a TP and am thinking about making the jump (absolutely love my TP but I'm interested in android & the ability to develop with no cost) Here's a few questions I have
-Currently, I sync three calendars using Google Calendar & Nuevasync. Is it possible to natively sync multiple calendars? Also, is it possible to view them separately (ala Palm Pre)?
I think the answer to this is yes, but not sure if you can have them seperate or if you have to have them all on one. I currently have my google calendar and my Facebook events linked into Google calendar and see both on the same calendar which is how I want it. But I think if you were to really want them seperated you could just add multiple calendar widgets and just select just one calendar for it to sync with.
-I sync 4 email accounts on my TP (consolidating would be horrible as they're business, personal, etc....unless I could have a "send from" picker). Anyone find it difficult to manage multiple email accounts?
I know alot of peeps here have multiple email accounts and they seem to do fine, I however don't so I can't be much help to you on this one.
-I may have read on this but I can't remember, is tethering available on the Hero (without PAM, of course)
Only way right now is PDAnet which is $30. This is untill the Sprint Hero gets rooted.
-Will that custom file manager allow my pc to see my phone as a usb drive? For example, I dj ane one of my decks allows me to plug in a usb drive to spin tracks from. I can currently hook my TP up if I have some songs on there that I want to play. Is this possible on the Hero?
Yes, your PC will see your phone as an external HD. I'm assuming that you could them play the songs directly from your PC.
-Any good RSS readers that sync with Google Reader? I finally found a WM app that does it (although it's no longer in development

)
I heard there is a google RSS reader app I think or another one that someone mentioned. Do a search as it's somewhere in this forum.
-I absolutely love Bing for it's ease of use and integration of speech recognition. This has honestly been what has kept me from using Google Maps at all because it's so much easier to just speak what you want. Anything remotely close to Bing?
The closest thing to this they have is "Where". It's not as good as Bing which for me also is the BEST app that miss from WM. Wish they would make a version for Android.
-I've been in love with Dashwire for it's ability to sync everything that it does, and for the amazing ability to send texts right from the website. Anything similar to this on Hero? Yes, I know Dashwire is going away so I might not have this feature even if I don't switch but right now I'm trying out MS My Phone to see if it's a good substitute
No idea about this one. Might be an app out.
-Citrix Client? I currently log into my pc at work through Citrix and would definitely need to have this feature as I sometimes need to log in while I'm out of the office. Anything available?
Also no idea.
-I recently found Klaxon which is a much better alarm clock prog than the stock one. One of the things I love is that you can set multiple alarms and have a greater control over how you're woken up (or is it awakened???). Does the Hero have a better alarm app than WM?
There are several alarm apps but the one that I like and is most similar to WM's G-alarm is Gawake. As it allows you to use music files, multiple alarms, set the snooze time (which for some reason alot of the others don't). It's not as fancy as Galarm is with all the different mazes and stuff for the snooze but it gets the job done for me. I like waking up to music rather then alarm sounds.
-IM client? I currently use Palringo and love it. Anything similar?
Yes, they have Palringo for android. Looks a little snazzier then the WM version too. Some peeps have reported some issues with it but I really haven't.
-Anything like Groovefish that allows you to play songs from the Grooveshark site? This app comes in handy for listening to songs on demand
If you're talking about internet radio, yes, Pandora is the best right now. If you're talking about a app that lets you play your OWN music files that you uploaded onto a site, not sure.
-Anything similar to MyMobiler that lets you see/control the phone on your pc?
Haven't found one so far, but I think this also requires the phone to be rooted.
-How is the Youtube app compared to the HTC Youtube app on WM? I honestly think this is one of the best apps (even better than Iphone, BB Tour, or Pre) when it comes to clarity
For me it's pretty good, and the high quality setting makes it even clearer but in my experience it starts to lag on this setting like it did on my mogul when I had that youtube app installed there. But maybe I was just in a bad connection area.
-Anything like youtubeplay that lets you download youtube videos to your phone?
Yes, I think I saw or heard of an app that does that.
-Overall, anyone have any regrets or anything they miss coming from the TP or similar?
Not so much, as I stated before, the only app I truly loved was Bing. But I'm doing fine without it. Most of the apps take FULL advantage of the location/GPS function which really helps finding local stuff.
Please forgive me if some of these questions have already been answered on the forum but I didnt see anything after a quick glance. Thanks for your help guys!
