Anything I run irregularly (except games, they are fine) I keep on the card. And I do not install any of them - just put a shortcut to the app in the start menu. Create them all once, then copy them to your card for backup. If you are into creating cab files (WinCE Cab manager) then you can create a cab as I did to just place them all in the start menu.
