GPS on insurance replacement, WHAT AM I MISSING?
This is friendly, but I'm wondering.....
I am involved in replacing my 6800 in an insurance claim. I'm now on my 4th replacement. Each replacement has had at least one problem (no WiFi, no reading micro SDHC memory card, phone green button not working, or other problems etc....) but EVERY unit had broken a GPS. NOT one of them had a working GPS.
Every unit has 3.42.50 radio and WM 6.1.
I have another other 6800 with my own cooked ROMs. I am using the stock ROM to verify that the replacement 6800 works before I replace the stock ROM with my PPC Kitchen ROM that I have in my other 6800.
I download Google maps OTA, I go to phone, options, and turn on location, I check settings GPS, and it's windows managed, Com4, no hardware, 4800 baud. I set Google maps to "use GPS", and all its other options, Google reports no gps receiver found on all 4 units. I have tried "using" and "not using" the Alltel customizations. Neither way makes a difference. What else am I missing????? Is it "reasonable" that 4 units had a broken GPS?
I thought that the stock ROM and radio now supports GPS. I really would like to hear all your thoughts!
Thanks.
