Well there are lots of things you can turn off to save battery power...
Push Internet
Turn Location off in Phone settings
Make sure the WiFi is off
don't have email check more than once an hour (Mine is set to 2!)
But I'm guessing that if you just replaced the battery you might find that is the issue...
