It seems that onlyl certain plans (the "Everything" plans for sure, maybe some others) include Sprint navigation.

I have an old grandfathered "Unlimited Data Plan" which like yours does not include and wants to charge $9.99 per month.

Per someone's suggestion here I am using iGO8 instead which is far superior and has no monthly charges. Search here for the thread about it. Even if I had Sprint Nav free I would use iGO8 now. In addition, the Sprint Nav uses data while iGO8 does not.
