Might be a little off topic, but what isn't lately? Are you sure you have to hit the soft reset to get into bootloader? My Alltel TP will jump to bootloader if I just hold the volume and the power while the phone is off, no need to fumble with the stylus with my third hand.
Maybe the Sprint TP is different?
