have you tried NOT installing a task manager / killer?? that fixed it for me (after a factory reset to get rid of the junk) and texts come in fast and reliable now....

Speed is the same on my end, i did not need it after all. Well, good luck to everyone else, imma keep enjoying my Hero where i left off...
