Re: Dailing 911
You know I had this really long reply going about how a properly working dialer should not have problem with this and I realized something. There are no letters for the 1 key... so what you are saying should be rediculously rare unless u like to name your contacts funny. "Smart dialing" 911 should only bring up contacts that have the strings W11 or X11 or Y11 or Z11 in them which i would think would be really rare.
Never the less, you can ignore everything below:
You shouldnt need something like that at all unless ur using some modified dialer that breaks 911.
With a properly working smart dial, when ever you dial numbers and press talk immediately without pressing anything else, whatever numbers were pressed are dialed not the first matching contact.
I know this for sure becuase I prese 545 to get the first 3 letters of my girlfriend and always forget to press her name. I end up dialing 545 and get a message that the call could not be completed.
The Touch Pro2 works exactly the same way so dialing 911 shouldnt be a problem. I call 911 way to much for the average person as I travel the NYS thruway every day for work and see lots of idiotic things going on/car and truck accidents/dead deer, tires, sheets of plywood, matresses, and other random crap in the driving lanes. My favorite retorical question from my list of stories is, "How would u like to hit two softball size stones sitting in the middle of the fast lane at 80mph?"
Because of this i used to stay away from alot of custom dialers since they were hacked up GSM phonecanvasses that didnt work right on my mogul when dialing 911. I ended up playing around and somehow got the graphics from the Touch dialer clone by Paul Hammons and eb3604 working with a stock Verizon Titan phonecanvas so that 911 and OTA would work like they should be. I meant to share it but never got around to it... so I feel like crap.
