I didn't change any settings, I used it as it installed. This is how I transfered them:

Set the D3 to 'Phonebook Transfer.'
Open JetWare: Menu > Phonebook Options > Select categories to transfer > Menu > Send Contacts > Done

It will come up with a screen that says 'Send ## contacts to Pioneer BT Unit 2' (or something to that effect). Click ok and it should start to send them.

Edit: The only setting that I changed was in the Advanced Menu. I checked the ringtones option at the bottom to allow my custom ringtones to play through the D3.
