This message pops up when something on your phone accesses your data connection and you do not have service.

It can be anything from emails, RSS feeds, Youtube, MyPhone, anything that accesses your data connection. If for any reason your data connection is not available (even if just for a second) and some application tries to use the connection, this message appears.

I find it most typically appears right before or after a phone call comes in, as CDMA does not allow voice/data at the same time. Also, if you are between towers or temporaily lose signal this can happen.

I do not think it is fixable, except to either disable the message or make sure you never drop the data connection.
