I tried tethering just for kicks today without editting the registry or anything. Anyway, I could no longer make data connections (phone / text were fine) and when I called Sprint CS they made me do a hard reset back to factory defaults.
I now realized it was my attempt at tethering this afternoon that messed things up.
Oh well, I'm on the Alltell ROM now instead of 6.9x.
