I had an android thing on my HTC Touch (vogue) which was in early development stages. It ran by loading a Linux image into RAM and booting off that. Phone did not need to reboot, but you could not get back to WinMo without soft reset.
Was buggy, slow, and that was even before G1 came out (1st Android phone). It was virtually unusable.
