I guess nobody reading this understands what I am trying to explain, therefor I will give a little more input and then just accept that I see it different then some others do.
Just transferring the image to the PC does not effectively scale the photos the same, or at all for that matter.
Just imagine that the cameras are both accepting in the same image. After the image has been retrieved, it is then processed for the devices standard output. Which is wide-screen. So it takes in the same amount of raw data as the TP1, but has to spread it over a larger surface to be full screen our TP2. So being that it is the same camera, with the same size cmos sensor, it essentially has to lower the output resolution to fill the wider screen with the same amount of data. Resulting in a 2048 x 1216 resolution output for the image. Rather then the 2048 x 1536 resolution that the TP1 would output.
TP1 = smaller image with higher resolution
essentially= 3.15 Megapixel image output
TP2 = larger image with a lower resolution
essentially= 2.49 Megapixel image output
That's it, my last 2 cents worth, unless someone is interested in any actual technical explanations of what I'm saying. Makes perfect sense to me, but who knows, I may be a little different!!
