I used both bmp2brn versions and the manual editing and none of the above produce a clear icon. Either they have lines through them or the icon shows up totally black. have you actually tried this on a physical sprint touch and gotten it to work? its possible about 10 of us missed something you didnt, but i cant figure out what a group of us missed that weve been trying over and over for a week now that you found to work in those directions off xda

The vague part: "doesn't work" doesn't give any indication of what the problem is, which simply leaves everyone wondering - with no idea what to do or try next. I spent a lot of time working through this (with guidance from xda) and finally got it to work, posted the steps and the first response I get is: "doesn't work"
Yes, I've tried this on a "physical sprint touch" - with success as stated. Examples are attached.
It would contribute to the effort if you'd explain the steps you went through exactly. For example: Did you use GIMP? Which version? Which hex editor? Post an example and I could look for differences, etc.
By the way - the bmp2brn.exe does more that just remove the bytes. When it's done, the .brn is 240 bytes shorter that it's supposed to be. That's what prompted me to just do it manually. It must also be flipping the image vertically, because that's a required step also...
