Ok first off it doesn't stink if you cook your own ROM. I cooked my own on the 23420 and it works just divinely. I installed WkTask and configured it to not show the close buttons and it seems to work great with notifications too.
I used to use MR but due to the lack of updates I wanted something a little newer so I started cooking my own and produced a ROM that is about the same quality it seems.
