I think to a degree, most people who go into a store probably aren't too 'up and up' about cell phones and are just looking to get a cell phone and don't do a whole lot of research. power-users, like the ones on this site, do their research and then become offended when the salesperson doesn't know what they're talking about, whether by lack of information from corporate or just incompetence in general.

in my experiences, the sales people generally just try to tell people what they want to hear, knowing that the majority of people won't have done their research.

it is refreshing to know i'm not alone in questioning the hiring practices of cell phone shops... i feel like i could probably do a better job of some of the hires.
