Sounds about right to me.
For those of you who haven't found a happy medium in memory usage I suggest reading some of the Titan Fora. The Sprint Mogul had same issues (I know the filesys drivers are quite different but its a place to doublecheck).
Sorry we switched places on devices here but I put my time in on the low memory thing.
