I just wanted to add, mine are still on, bubble free, no peeling or scrunching. I can also see where it gets rubbed and can only imagine that this would cause wear to the device in time.

Mine will stay on for as long as they hang on. It does look very possible to replace them as well, with a cut piece of screenie. No problem. I see where some would WANT to take them off, they aren't necessary! However, they do add some little bit of protection that was not previously accounted for at all by the manufacturer. They definitely don't hurt anything or interfere with the sliding of my keyboard at all!

That's all. My 2 cents to this ongoing, confused, debate.
