That's not true. The phone breaks it up and sends two (or more) messages depending on the message size set (in this case 130). It's the same as if you were typing a story and clicked send right after the 130th character.
I tested it. I sent the same 130+ character text message twice, once with the 130 cap, and once with a 160 cap and they were different on the receiving end.
