Download Opera Mobile.
Install it and set it as the default browser. When you open up picture links from that point on, they'll open in Opera and as long as you have it set on Desktop mode (in the view settings), you'll be able to see the pic and use all the options like download, etc.
Opera will freeze for a few seconds when its processing large pages. But it has never hard-locked my Mogul OR my 6700.
