FYI: I had spent tons of time to figure out how to have push email and eventually went with a hosted exchange service. Its $9/mo. however the piece of mind that all is on the ser ver feels good and all the time I have saved trying other methods that didn't quite do this. The service has also been VERY reliable. I have a link in my sig if you want to try it out.
I still am curious as to how gmail exchange works. Can you also buse Outlook to connect to gmail exchange server?

I agree with sherweb. It is great... I've used that for over a year now, without issue.
http://www.sherweb.com is a direct link... then click on "hosted exchange."
Sherweb's exchange account also comes with 100 mb of SharePoint space... I've found sharepoint to be nice but not so useful for only one person (too many other ways to store and retrieve files/folders, etc). Sharepoint would be nice for a group though...
If it ever becomes stable, I may switch over to google's offering sometime. Email is important to me... google is not "there" yet... IMO
My guess is they will build their own "exchange email" service in the future and stop using Microsoft's solution. That only makes sense... maybe not the near future...
