well it hapened with me 2 . i couldnt get the battery meter on any program screen .it only appeared on the home screen. i found the solution as a 3rd party program 'Quick menu".
no need to open windows in built menu.no need of main menu lyk in my omnia. (though some may not lyk it).
it got its own battery meter which u can set to appear on all screen or main screen . small in size .auto start on startup n u can close program frm it too
try it.
