Sorry, but the easier softer way is soft reset unless u volunteer more info.
When did this started? have u ever done a hard reset? was this an issue since day one? I ssume u running stock....I dont have any prob with HTC kb as I dont use them maybe that explains, still I havent heard much about it....there are some really cool keyboard out there that are free, one that comes to mind is Fingerkeyboard.....
