Cyanogen could continue to release his mods, just cutting out the pieces Google doesn't want him to distribute.
Disappointing on Google's part. Hopefully something will be worked out. 1. They put those apps in the Market, 2. They allow Cyanogen to distribute them.

I guess not. The letter is cease and desist.
And U still don't see the point. WM ROM's put any google product in there and nobody hears from Google. SO why is Google singleling cynayogen out? That is the question. Apparently, He pissed of somebody from Google that is why they are after his @ss. Plus cyanogenmod is not the only custom Android ROM out there that has this Apps. It just rings 1 thing to me. He's Custom Android ROM is too great and too popular and Google does not like it. Google is still in control of Google Android. It is not as open as U think. Enuff said!

You miss my point. The C&D is to stop distributing those apps, not the Rom. If the Rom contains the apps then he needs to remove them. Android the OS is open source, as I said call up the code and modify it. This case is a case of him violating their distribution rights and agreements. It does seem to go against open source, but one has to remember the apps cited arent part of the open source android.
