Just tried all resolutions, no light turns on. I think tomorrow I might try a different ROM and see if it is a ROM issue or a phone issue on my end...

did you try to pull it up via the picture menu? such as turning on the camera and then pushing the screen, hitting the settings button and then hitting the flash light on screen key?
